Radiona.org is joining its forces with our peers from The Croatian Linux Users’ Association (HULK) and Croatian Association for Open Systems and Internet (HrOpen) at the Croatian Linux Users’ Conference DORS/CLUC 2025 by marking the 30 years anniversary of the conference. Radiona.org will be setting its OpenLAB and Neo-retro Computing Corner during the first day of the conference which is set to take place on May 22st 2025 at the Algebra Bernays University. The second day of the conference, May 23nd is intended only for software developers.
Radiona Neo-retro Corner
The interactive exhibition part of Neo-retro Corner will consist of DIY gaming devices and computers, retro computers and gaming gadgets from Radiona collection like Amiga, Spectrum, Commodore and many more vintage devices. The idea is to create a space where you can try and feel the sense of times when these devices and computers were run on only a few kilobytes and still doing meaningful and fun tasks.
OpenLAB drop-in workshops:
1) Radiona ZigZag e-Badge
As we are often visiting security conferences we have created a Radiona ZigZag badge. We wanted to have CTF tasks for conference visitors. The task was to make a universal badge that we could reuse. We are also using components from our preview projects so that we can also recycle some parts. Lots of thinking was gone in making the badge as simple and cheap as possible. At the end we decided to go with 5 LEDs for output and one Button for input. With LEDs we can use PoV, Morse blinking and many more!!!
2) FM Radio Kit
Solder your FM radio kit in 10-20-30 minutes and stay informed! Soldering and building an FM radio kit is important because it reconnects people with the physical, hands-on processes behind everyday technologies. It demystifies how communication works, builds confidence in electronics skills, and nurtures creativity by showing that technology is something you can make, not just consume. Plus, it is great to listen to some music while you are gardening for a weekend and not using your mobile phone all the time.
3) Radiona DIY Synth
Radiona’s mini synth kit, designed by Igor Brkić, allows participants to build a simple electronic device for creating sound. They will also learn how and why the synth does what it does, how to connect wires, how to solder, master the basics of electronics, and at the end they will have the opportunity to make some noise with their mini synthesizer. Participants take their synths home.
4) ORI The Badger – e-Badge
The ORI Badger is a DIY kit that you can use as a badge/brooch, key chain, or necklace, whichever suits you best. With this kit, you’ll master the basics of electricity and soldering while learning why the badger is a cool resident of planet Earth.
