Radiona.org @ BalCCon2k24

Goran Mahovlić from Radiona.org gave a lecture at the international conference BalCCon2k24 titled ‘Reversing and repurposing resin 3D printer’ on 21st September 2024 in Novi Sad (Serbia).

About the lecture:
All I needed was to move one motor, but I ended with completely reversing all resin printer peripherals. I will talk about challenges and tools I have used, with few nice tricks I figured out in the process.

I got the task to create machine that will calibrate/test displacement sensors. And for fast prototype I started with sensors attached to my Prusa Mini. As a proof of concept setup worked but I needed more detailed measurements. As resin printers are quite precise and not expensive I ordered one. Originally I was thinking I will just need to adjust my Prusa setup, but I ended in completely reversing all printer peripherals. I will talk about challenges and tools I have used, with few nice tricks I figured out in the process.

Goran Mahovlić (electronics tech) worked for years in repair shop for informatics and bank equipment. Moved on to a developer for low power wireless technologies (LoRA/nbIOT) and measuring systems. Currently self employed in Intergalaktik d.o.o. working on opensource HW solutions, mostly FPGA boards. With constant urge to take apart any device within reach and find out it’s secrets, Goran is equally successful at hardware and software hacking, from cheap products, up cycling old tech, to serious work in technology and microprocessor development. He is a tech coordinator at Radiona. In past, Goran led a number of accomplished workshop and presentations, regular member of Radiona projects and exhibitions, lead and founder of Radiona SmartZG network. Among his work is founding the Lemilica.com portal, for which he writes.
