Corazón De Robota (Constanza Piña): Noise-makers and creative minds, Electronic Anarchy!

Noise-makers and creative minds, If there's one thing I can say about my residency at Radiona, it's that it was a wildly productive and creative blast. Radiona isn't just a simple maker space; it's an electronic paradise. They have everything you could possibly need to make your brain explode with ideas: tools, components, materials, and best of all, a community of makers in Zagreb with an contagious energy.

During my stay, I went a little crazy (in a good way) and dove headfirst into developing two interconnected circuit modules: "Distorted Love" and "Voltage-Controlled Love." These aren't your typical circuits; they're my noisy circuits designed to generate pure noise and lovingly distort sounds from the real world.

The real magic happens when you connect them with a third audio source (like a recording, an instrument, or the radio). Suddenly, you've got a "bizarre love triangle of sound" that lets you create hypnotic hums, bubbly sounds, and all sorts of intermittent feedback that will blow your mind. My mission with this project is to open the heart source of electronics so the entire noise community can play with it.

With the help of the Radiona team, we designed the circuit with laser-cut stickers. It was amazing to stick the circuits on the virgin copper board and then etch them in a super manual and DIY way.

Besides the team, I was lucky enough to hang out with two other fantastic artists: John Richards and Alwin Weber. We shared ideas, swapped circuits, and I even crashed their workshops to learn from the best. It was an incredible exchange of energy and knowledge that fully recharged my creative batteries.

I want to especially thank Deborah Hustić. She's the reason I was there. Thanks to her tireless work, she's managed to keep the global maker community connected and active. To top it all off, she shared her most epic collection of standalone synthesizers that she's been gathering for years. Her passion for electronics and DIY is so inspiring that it's created a true global tribe.

To wrap things up, I hosted a two-day workshop. People left with their very own sound modules in their hands. We soldered, assembled, and created printed circuit boards, and the look on everyone's faces when they heard their own creations was priceless.

My time at Radiona was an amazing adventure. I'm leaving with new circuits and a ton of inspiration. Thank you, Radiona, for this incredible experience.
